| Wesley Healy ("Chief") was a red-headed jovial salesman-inventor-glass-blower-scientist-engineer who built contraptions for a living. He hired school boys to help him. One of his projects was a big neon clock that hung high in the Chicago Stadium to time rodeos. The first one caught fire. I worked on the second. Adjusting the high-voltage relays was an all-night job for me and the chief. The cowboys watched the clock and fell off their horses, so the clock was removed after one rodeo. |
